What personal data our website collects and why it’s collected
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. We do not collect any data from elementary OS. Your files, settings, and all other personal data remain on-device unless you explicitly share them with a third-party app or service.
elementary OS optionally integrates with online account providers such as Google, Last.fm, and Fastmail via System Settings. Data from these providers may be retrieved and stored locally on your device to be used in apps such as Mail and Calendar. This data is not sent to elementary or shared with any third party.
What Data is Collected
After adding an online account, elementary OS may collect and store your name, email address, avatar, email messages, calendar events, contacts, photos, and files from your connected accounts locally on your device.
How Data is Used
Your data is stored locally on your device and never sent to elementary servers or any third parties. It is used to populate your local apps such as Mail, Calendar, Files, and Photos with your data.
elementary OS does not share any data collected from your online accounts. The data is never sent to elementary or third-party servers.

The Information We Collect About You
We collect information about you directly from you and from third parties, as well as automatically through your use of our Site or Services. We may combine the information we collect about you from these sources.
Registration and Account Profile
To register or manage a device or otherwise access most of the Services you must have an account with us. To register for an account, you must provide us certain information including your name and mail address, and other profile information. You may also be able to sign into our Services using third party accounts, such as Google, Facebook and GitHub accounts. When you log in through a third party account, you must grant us permission to access and use certain information from these accounts (as explained on the permissions page), such as your name, email and profile information, and we may also ask for access to other information from these accounts. When you use our Services, your audio commands are transmitted to Mycroft for processing, as part of the Services. We may also collect other metadata about your audio commands, such as the time and location.
When you download our software or otherwise use or register a device with us, we collect information about your device, including platform type and location.

Please keep in mind, it will takes us a reasonable amount of time to process your withdrawal and remove your recordings from our Open Data; your withdrawal of consent may not apply to information that has already been shared as Open Data.
We may disclose the information we collect from you to third party vendors, service providers, contractors or agents who perform functions on our behalf.
If we are acquired by or merged with another company, if any part of our assets are transferred to another company, or as part of a bankruptcy proceeding, we may transfer the information we have collected from you to the other company.
In Response to Legal Process
We also may disclose the information we collect from you in order to comply with the law, a judicial proceeding, court order, or other legal process, such as in response to a court order or a subpoena.

Aggregate and De-Identified Information
We may share aggregate or de-identified information about users with third parties for marketing, advertising, research or similar purposes.
Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser for record-keeping purposes. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our Site and Services, while others are used to enable a faster log-in process or to allow us to track your activities at our Site and Service. Clear GIFs, pixel tags and other technologies
Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping your log-in and password private.
Access To My Personal Information
If you’d like to update your profile information with us, you may do so through your account. You may also request that we delete your account by by logging in to home.mycroft.ai and choosing “Delete Account” under your profile. Please note that copies of information that you have updated, modified or deleted may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the Site for a period of time, and we may maintain a copy as part of our business records.
We may send periodic promotional emails to you. You may opt-out of such promotional communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in the e-mail. Please note that it may take up to 10 business days for us to process opt-out requests. If you opt-out of receiving promotional emails about recommendations or other information we think may interest you, we may still send you e-mails about your account or any Services you have requested or received from us.
Children Under 13
Our Services are not designed for children under 13; and children under 13 are not permitted to have an account with us. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information from our systems.
